Things blooming that shouldn’t be

Noticed this morning while getting acclimated for my 8 mile run. Notice this evening while puttering in garden before Girls Night Out

Flower Garden This Morning

This morning I visited the flowers in the garden to do some cutting.   I reminded the bees  “Even though I put this Russian Sage here for you,  You have to remember I like it too”. yes I actually said that out loud to the bees on the sage.  I also told a cute little praying mantis that he couldn’t stay on the cut glads, as he would not like it where they were headed.  We got quite a bit of rain yesterday and about 6″ or so last week.  The flowers are still hanging in there in spite of the nasty conditions this summer has provided them.   I’m hoping to get to some other writing this weekend, until then Happy Friday and consider this my virtual flower gift to all of you!

My view right now

I’m glad you came

When I was a little girl we had a HUGE garden complete with a fence covered in concord grapes as a divider across the entire width of the back yard and a garden gate. I spent many a hot, sweaty, dirty afternoon working while Dad supervised aka sat in the shade smoking a camel non filter and giving directions. I learned to plant, hoe, weed, and harvest. There was a small area that was just mine and each year I chose to plant gladiolus, gladioli, gladiola or however you choose to spell it. I haven’t had glads at this house until this year. In the middle of a drought, at the end of a stressful and emotionally taxing week complete with a 3 day headache, Daddy sent me this in the garden. I miss you Dad!
